Pat Cox has been the new President of the Foundation since January 1, 2015

At the end of two three-year terms, Mr. José Maria Gil Robles has decided to pass the Presidency of our Foundation to his successor.

On 12 December, 2014, the Executive Council has appointed the role of President of the Foundation to Mr. Pat Cox, for a renewable term of 3 years, from 1 January, 2015.

Of Irish nationality, Pat Cox is 62 years old and is a former Member of the European Parliament over a 15 year period; during which he served as President from 2002 to 2004. He was then President of the European Movement International from 2005 to 2011. In 2004, he was awarded the International Charlemagne Prize of Aix la Chapelle.

Pat Cox is the fourth President of the Foundation created by Jean Monnet in 1978, following in the footsteps of former renowned Presidents Henri Rieben (1978 to 2005), Bronislaw Geremek (2006 to 2008), and José Maria Gil-Robles (2009 to 2014).

Pat Cox’s inaugural conference will be held on Thursday, 12 March, 2015 at 5 pm in Dorigny. The event will be open to the public.
