Schuman Fonds

Robert Schuman (1886-1963) was French Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1948 to 1952. He gave his name to the Schuman Declaration of 9 May 1950, which launched the process of European integration.

The archives were handed over to the Foundation by Mr Henry Beyer, former Attorney General of the French Republic.

Period covered by the documentation: 1946-1962.

These are Robert Schuman’s European papers. The archive contains writings, statements by Robert Schuman, numerous press clippings and extensive correspondence. The documentation includes the Schuman Plan and the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC).
