Archive web portal

Access to the Archive web portal

Since 2005, the Foundation has undertaken to digitise its archives to allow easy access and consultation by researchers from all over the world. Since the end of 2021, these documents as well as the archive inventories are accessible on the web via a web portal developed by the Foundation.

Access to the documents

The public access to the portal allows to consult the description of the archives and to search in the inventories and the content of the digitised documents.
In order to consult the documents themselves, all you have to do is request them at archives@nullfjme.unil.ch. The Foundation’s team of archivists will be happy to send you an access key and guide you in your research.
You can fill in this form, sign it and send a PDF scan when you make your request.

A portal in constant evolution

Putting old archives and inventories online represents a significant amount of work for the Foundation’s archive team. The portal is regularly updated with new descriptions and documents.
The process is partly automated. Therefore, in spite of our proofreading, it is possible that typos slip through in our entries or that documents are difficult to read. If you have difficulty in deciphering documents or notice any errors, please let us know. This will help to improve the quality of the portal for the entire research community.

Infrastructure

The server and the documents are hosted by the Centre informatique de l’Unil. The data is therefore hosted securely in Switzerland.

Personal data

As a research centre, the Foundation is keen to know and support the researchers who use its archives. This is why researchers must provide information about themselves and their research. This information is kept offline, so there is no risk of it leaking onto the Internet.
For statistical purposes, consultation information is collected by the Plausible analysis tool, a privacy-friendly and GDPR compliant tool.
The documents consulted by the researchers registered on the web portal are also recorded in a database in an anonymised manner, again in compliance with data protection laws.
