“Networks are the feeder arteries of the single market” – Jacques Delors, White Paper of the European Commission, 1993
Since 2016, and with the support of the Canton of Vaud, the Foundation has been preparing and monitoring the work of a group of experts on a topical issue in Europe and Switzerland. Until the end of 2019, the theme “Transport: challenges and sustainability” will be discussed.
Whether it concerns the transport of people, tangible or intangible goods, mobility alone brings with it the fundamental freedoms of the European Union. Around this group of experts, the Foundation also organises other formats on this subject: interviews, conferences or public events, all means of informing and discussing this theme at the heart of European integration.
On 18 October 2017, the Foundation hosted a conference with Mr José Viegas, former Secretary General of the International Transport Forum, and Mr Patrick Oliva, co-founder with the Partnership on Sustainable Low Carbon Transport (SLoCaT) of the Paris Process on Mobility and Climate. The full report of the conference is available by clicking here.
For a first period from 2016 to the end of 2017, the expert group worked on a first report aimed at giving impetus at European level to the implementation of the Paris Agreement. The final publication is available for download by clicking here.
Various introductory interviews were conducted on the theme.
