Jean Flory died on 2 November 2023, in his 92nd year, in Paris.
His commitment to the Foundation was unwavering. He was a member of the Foundation’s Executive Council (supreme statutory body) from 1999 to 2021.
Jean Flory, Honorary Director-General of the European Commission, Officer of the Légion d’Honneur, Officer of the Ordre National du Mérite, was a key player in the first decades of European integration, where he was Director of Cabinet to Robert Marjolin, Vice-President of the EEC Commission, and Director of Industrial and Technological Policy at the Commission.
