On 20 December 2019, the Jean Monnet Foundation, together with the Centre for Tax Policy and the Centre du droit de l’entreprise (CEDIDAC) of the University of Lausanne, organised a conference with Juliane Kokott, Advocate General at the Court of Justice of the European Union and Wolfgang Schön, Director of the Max Planck Institute for Tax Law and Public Finance, on the subject of tax policy in Switzerland and the European Union. The event was held on the campus of the University of Lausanne, bringing together around 70 people from the worlds of politics, business, academia and the student body. The conference was followed by a question and answer session.
Following the opening of the conference by Professor Damiano Canapa, Director of CEDIDAC, Jacques de Watteville, Vice-President of the Jean Monnet Foundation and former Secretary of State, introduced the topic with some introductory remarks. He also concluded the event. Moderation was led by Professor Robert Danon, Director of the Centre for Fiscal Policy.
