On 2 May 2019, the former President of the Swiss Confederation Micheline Calmy-Rey held a conference on the theme “Switzerland’s European policy”. The event, jointly organised by the Foundation and the Centre du droit de l’entreprise (CEDIDAC), was held on the campus of the University of Lausanne, bringing together around 280 people from the worlds of politics, economics, academia and the student body. Ms. Calmy-Rey’s lecture was followed by a question-and-answer session.
After the introductory and contextual remarks by Gilles Grin, Director of the Foundation, and Damiano Canapa, Professor at the University of Lausanne and Director of the CEDIDAC, Ms Calmy-Rey explained how Switzerland understands its foreign policy towards the EU, returning for example to the current state of relations between Switzerland and the European Union, currently marked by the negotiations of an institutional framework agreement.
