Visit of the ambassadors of the Member States of the European Union (2014)

It was a pleasure and an honour for the Foundation to welcome, on Tuesday 27 May 2014, the ambassadors of the Member States of the European Union based in Berne.

This visit was part of a day organized in Lausanne by the Greek Ambassador to Switzerland, Harris Manessis, on the occasion of the Greek Presidency of the European Union. During the day, the European ambassadors were first welcomed to the Olympic Museum by Pascal Broulis, State Councillor and Head of the Department of Finance and External Relations of the Canton of Vaud, Daniel Brélaz, Mayor of Lausanne, and Thomas Bach, President of the International Olympic Committee.

The President of the Foundation, José Maria Gil-Robles, and the Director Gilles Grin then joined them for a lunch hosted by the Canton of Vaud at the Maison de l’Elysée, before welcoming the entire delegation to the Ferme de Dorigny.

Most of the ambassadors had never been to the Foundation before. They were given a presentation of its missions and activities, as well as a visit to the site, including the new facilities dedicated to the conservation of archives. Several selected documents or objects were displayed in display cases and commented on. To conclude the visit, President Gil-Robles shared his thoughts following the European elections, then opened a dialogue with the European ambassadors on current issues.
